The production line: Situated in the ash pits at Temple Meads station, Bristol, The Production Line is an arts and performance centre for the Artspace Lifespace collective. The project is influenced by ideas of global mass production and consumption of media, art, and entertainment, in a celebratory juxtaposition of the liberal politics of Artspace Lifespace. The Production Line provides an immersive and adaptable environment that aids productivity and creativity whilst exploring the relationship between public and private spaces. The key intervention consists of a rigging and pathway sculptural structure that moves throughout the various spaces in the site, and which brings the technical systems throughout and morphs into different features at key points – a viewing platform through the production spaces, the background rigging through the theatre space and adaptable lighting and sound throughout. A creative home space for the collective and an exciting hub for the local community.
