Cocoon is a collapsible 3D printer enclosure which utilizes an origami pattern to allow the enclosure to fold up improving the amount of access the user has to the 3D printer for removing a print as well as conducting maintenance, this design also provides a more exciting appearance while sitting in people’s homes.
Cocoon can reduce the energy consumption of 3D printer by 12% through its ability to prevent heat loss to the environment which has the additional benefit of improving print quality through its capability to keep the printing area warm which helps to prevent shrinking and cracking in the plastic. Furthermore, by enclosing the 3D printer you will improve the safety for the user by preventing them from being able to touch any of the heated elements such as the heated bed or the hot end.
