Michael Hall

I took full advantage of the last few months of uni and decided to focus on exploring my own deep-rooted passions: the worlds of science, technology, art and fashion. Influential geniuses such as Alexander Mcqueen, Neri Oxman and Lucy Mcrae gave me what felt like a new and exciting perspective on what is possible. These people lead me to understand the more symbolic themes such as evolution, change and the importance of self-expression. Eventually combing them all to create a scenario within the future of the design and the medical industry, where the technology in manufacturing prosthetics is so advanced, that medical aids become consumable like fashion. Why? Because it gives amputees the opportunity to design a new part of themselves. This in a sense could be seen as the 5th stage of evolution. I concluded that if the technology behind prosthesis progressed at the same rate as the tech industry, this could all be possible.
