Large urban areas are great machines of work. They’re efficient, industrious, major contributors of a nation’s economy… and reduce living space, lack in meaningful human interactions and drive decline in individual’s mental wellbeing.

“Symbiote” is an inner city seating installation sponsored by the National trust. Symbiote aims to increase contact with nature, increase socialising and community values and aims to reduce the priority traffic has by being installed in claimed parking spaces, driving pedestrianisation of roads. Symbiote boasts elegant, ergonomic, configurable steam bent seating curves for relaxation and comfort and crafted primarily from UK sourced, green oak and willow whip woven feature panels, that promote local, natural supply chains and community learning of crafts. Volunteers from the community are encouraged to get involved in weaving the feature panels and being part of their new addition to the neighborhood. Symbiote lives alongside you in your urban community.
