Designed with heavily informed justification, the building recognises the deep rooted history in castle park, reflecting the church and using a complimentary pallete to the existing materiality whilst fabricating an organic, biomorphic form inspired from an ocean wave. The purpose has the community as the focal point, solving the issues highlighted during initial site analysis, including the security due to atrium access and evening lighting. Seating with benches in the atrium. Toilets provided on site. Recycling bins provided. Most importantly a shift in demographic with an aim to discourage substance misuse due to the increase in families and young people. The community remains at the heart of the marine conservation center.
