The project will reduce the environmental impact of the food industry within Bristol. This will be achieved through the inclusion of the local community of Paintworks, who have a strong ethos of sustainability and localism through living and working in the same area. The farm will offer a visitor experience that seeks to improve consumer demand for greater change in sustainable practice. The building will facilitate this sharing of information through creating a central visitor centre that enables the public to oversee the range of farming techniques used on site. These are: hydroponics, aquaponics, aeroponics and traditional farming techniques.

The form and function of the building is taken from that of plant cells components and their ability to interact with one another effectively. This use of biomorphism and biomimicry creates a strong sense of user experience, giving more weight to the argument of changes to production and consumption.
