This is a proposal for a building which seeks to solve issues pertaining to sustainability within the tourism industry, with particular focus on transport. The building seeks not only to advocate for sustainable modes of transport through the design of a form that facilitates it in its literal sense, but it also proposes to accommodate organizations that actively participate in making sustainable transport more accessible for people in the UK. This is in tandem with the building’s use as what can effectively be described as a public bicycle parking facility, acting as a hub for localized tourism or simply as a space to leave your bike while you spend your day in other parts of the city. The sustainable transport organization with which I have been liaising during this project also provide infrastructure for cycling in the form of pavement material made from recycled tires, and as such a recycling facility for such processes also exists in union with all the other spaces.
