Connor McGarvie

After identifying the poor eating habits of Bristol’s population and the soil degradation due to the food industry’s increasing demands, this project was conceived to address these issues. The project aims to improve the production and consumption processes of the food industry by providing an opportunity to experience a healthy lifestyle in various ways. The building offers a variety of food services and provides the chance to learn how to cook healthy meals in a class. Some produce is grown on-site in the vertical farm to reduce transportation emissions, allowing distribution directly to the consumers. Users from all levels of experience in fitness have the chance to use the various facilities such as the fitness studio or the therapy pool. To provide the full healthy living experience, work-life is also recognised in the form of a health and wellbeing inspired office space with varying spaces of collaboration and privacy.
