The Watershed building in Bristol city centre was a pioneering cultural-led regeneration in 1982. This identity is lost today despite its strategic location. Hence, intervening within this existing building, an open public gallery space is proposed to market films being shown in the independent cinema, projects of the Pervasive Media Studio, both accommodated in the Watershed and lastly events happening in the city through the use of projections and screens, commemorating the Watershed’s contribution in making Bristol a UNESCO City of Film. Drawing from an analysis of the Paris Arcades by Benjamin

Walker, the gallery is designed with careful considerations to explore transparency and blend the threshold between the interior and exterior by opening up the façade and elongating the prominent waterfront promenade crossing through the city centre within. The screens are laid out arbitrarily to encourage a fluid journey as visitors enter the gallery and follow through the exhibition.
